Mounting
The placement of a Speech Generating Device (SGD), Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) product, computer, or any piece of Assistive Technology (AT) on a wheelchair requires a Mounting System that can stand the test of time. Repeated jostling, removal and re-installation, requires strength, flexibility, and consistently reliable performance. The manufacturers we represent have reflected these qualities in their product design

Rigid Mount
- The DAESSY Rigid Mount provides a simple but highly adaptable and adjustable support structure for Mounting laptop computers or communication devices on wheelchairs.
- The Mount consists of two lengths of tube Rigidly connected to form a right angle structure.
- The Mounted device is attached to a horizontal tube crossing the wheelchair and supported by a vertical tube in a clamp that is permanently attached to the wheelchair.
- Both left or right-hand Mounting are possible and the Mount can be precisely positioned for accessibility by the user.
|
 |
Folding Mount
- The DAESSY Folding Mount as the name implies can be folded away from the user.
- The two tubes of the Mount are connected by a flexible joint and except for this feature it is identical to the Rigid Mount.
- The flexible joint allows the horizontal tube, with the device attached or removed, to be lifted up to the side until the two tubes are parallel in a straight-up orientation and then rotated down until parallel to the vertical tube alongside the wheelchair.
- When folded and removed from the wheelchair the Folding Mount forms a more compact structure than the Rigid Mount.

Locking Swing-Away Mount
- The DAESSY Locking Swing-Away Mount (DLSA7) was developed in response to many requests for a device Mount that could be moved out of the way and back into place by the user.
- Similar in appearance to the Rigid Mount but very different in structure the Locking Swing-Away Mount consists of a single length of tube bent to a right angle shape and supported in a clamp that allows the Mount to be swung away from the user in the manner of a gate.
- A Locking mechanism located at the clamp and operated by a cable running underneath the Mounted device controls the swing-away action.
|
 |
Rear Folding Mount
- The DAESSY Rear Folding Mount (DRFM6) also allows a device to be precisely positioned for use but with this Mount the device is folded away behind the backrest of the wheelchair when not needed.
- Unlike the other DAESSY Mounts the Rear Folding Mount is permanently attached part way down the side of the wheelchair and cannot be lifted out of its attachment clamp.
- Two flexible joints, one located at the attachment to the wheelchair the other between the two tubes permit a three step Rearward Folding action.

 |
Desk Mount
- The Desk Mount is most commonly used in conjunction with one of the DAESSY wheelchair Mounts and allows a device to be positioned on a desk or table at precisely the same orientation as it is on the wheelchair.
- The Desk Mount consists of a base and U-shaped tube that holds the attachment fitting for the device on its adapter.
